You are here: Home > Siemens Halske Munich Codes
Munich codes: (left to right) 1953 Siemens painted-code between the pins (4X4‡3A pre-acid-code ECF82), 1959 Siemens painted-code on front of (pre-acid-code CCa), 1964 Siemens E88CC with acid-code A01‡4G,1965 Siemens E88CC with metal tag-code A01‡5G, late 60's early 70's Siemens ECC801S/6201 with acid-code.
Do the Siemens tubes you are looking at pass this authentication test?

ECC83 / 12AX7 Double Halo Supports

Make sure you are buying Real Siemens Halske 12AX7 tubes - They have double-halo-support-rods, shiny triangular or gray coated points ( 4 on top mica and 4 on the bottom mica) and the Siemens Halske ‡ codes in the glass.

PRE-ACID CODES: THE ACID-CODES ARE NOT IN THE GLASS in THESE EARLY VERSIONS ( and of course NOT stamped on tags) THESE PRE-DATE ACID-CODES and the codes were "painted" on the front of the glass.

We also see pre-1960 Siemens & Halske tubes with "painted codes" between the pins in black or white paint

Munich Western Germany codes I62 ‡8B = 1968

Siemens History of Production:

Real Siemens Halske Double-Ring/Halo-Post-Support* and Triple-Mica Tubes were only made from 1961 - 1970 (These are the only ones you want!)

Codes I61 ‡1X were made in 1961 (Extremely Rare) Double-Ring/Halo-Post-Support* and Triple-Mica Tubes

Codes I62 ‡2X were made from 1962 - 1966 (Extremely Rare) Double-Ring/Halo-Post-Support* and Triple-Mica Tubes

* Codes I63 ‡7X were made from 1967 - 1969 (Extremely Rare) Double-Ring/Halo-Post-Support* and Triple-Mica Tubes

Codes I64 ‡0X were made in 1970 (Very Rare) Double-Ring/Halo-Post-Support* and Triple-Mica Tubes

Sad News: Keep Away from Eastern-European Siemens alternate production - After 1979 Siemens closed down the Halske-Munich Factory and set up shop in Eastern Europe and the ECC83/E83CC design went single-post construction (not recommended as fine audio tube in ECC83 / E83CC /ECC803S applications ) but O.K. for ECC81 / ECC801S made in the Munich Factory only! Munich Factory single-post halo is O.K. but Eastern Europe single-post halo is not recommended.

For the old "Gray-Plate" early 1960's SIEMENS HALSKE E88CC and CCa:

Make sure you are buying Real Siemens Halske CCa = E88CC / 6922 tubes - They have the double-stage getter frame-grid construction, Gray separator or Gray Electro-static shield, 4 seams on top and numbers in the glass between the pins and the Siemens & Halske S+H logo on the front of the tube with "painted serial numbers" for the pre-1960 versions and ACID-CODES for the 1960 - 1965 versions. After 1966 the acid-codes may change to codes stamped on tiny metal rectangles soldered onto the sides.
